Title:                      Truck Driver/Shipper

Reports to:         Shipping Supervisor

Department:      Shipping & Receiving Department

Job Summary:   Loads, unloads, and operates delivery vehicles to pick up product from vendors and deliver finished goods to customers.


Detailed Responsibilities

  1. Operates delivery truck according to state and local laws; transports load over required route to proper destination, observing all traffic laws and safety regulations and load transporting procedures
  2. Pulls daily orders and bands/stages shipments to customers and vendors
  3. Loads and unloads trucks; dispositions delivered goods accordingly
  4. Obtains correct shipping paperwork and verifies 100% load accuracy before leaving plant, vendors and customers; no repeat trips due to paperwork omissions or errors
  5. Removes empty skids from truck; keeps storage area and shipping dock neat and swept
  6. Assists in areas of inventory, discrepancy solving and other activities as directed
  7. Conducts piece counts using electronic scales; completes related paperwork
  8. May receive incoming plated parts, coils, corrugated cardboard, and vendor components, verifying weights, quantities and quality; records into appropriate logs and stores all 
  9. Assists scrap dealers in pick-up of scrap metals; paperwork, scrap logs, etc.
  10. Performs daily truck inspections including fluids, brakes, tires, radiator, wipers, lights, chassis, belts and hoses; sweeps bed, cab weekly, shipping dock bi-monthly; reports any mechanical deficiencies to supervisor at once
  11. Assist with material handling in the Pack/Sort department 
  12. Other non-specific duties as required by the supervisor


Essential Skills and Experience:


  1. Valid Ohio driver’s license, clean driving record; no points previous three years; insurable
  2. Experience operating box truck (stick shift) weighing 25,500 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)
  3. Valid tow motor license
  4. Basic computer skills
  5. Must be able to communicate with customers and/or vendors 
  6. Must be able to read basic documents


Physical Demands: 

Capable of remaining either stationary or in movement for long periods of time, up to 8 plus hours, and occasionally required moving up to 75 pounds.


Personal Protective Equipment Required:

Gloves, safety glasses (in required areas) and work boots
