Maintenance Tech Needed on 2nd shift

A large manufacturer in the Newburg area is in need of an experienced Maintenance Tech on 2nd shift. This is a full-time temp-to-hire position with weekly pay. The maintenance tech will fix equipment by working efficiently and safely to make the repairs.   This position requires a self-motivated individual with a mechanical background who is team-oriented, adaptable, and a problem solver. 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Installs, repairs, and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance. 
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operations
  • Dismantles machinery and removes/replaces defective parts
  • Determines changes in requirements of parts by inspecting and measuring various instruments 
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests
  • Using a computer, troubleshoot a machine with a PLC. Various types of PLCs are used
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams to aid in troubleshooting and maintenance of machinery
  • Survey buildings and repair systems proactively to ensure they are consistent with Health and Safety standards. 
  • Perform maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets, clean and repair circuit breaker panels, etc.) 
  • Make recommendations to the Maintenance Director to update equipment as needed. 
  • Works with each department, providing necessary support to ensure day-to-day maintenance issues are resolved promptly. 
  • Perform regular and preventative maintenance on equipment to eliminate unscheduled downtime. 
  • Perform light landscaping and groundskeeping work as needed. 
  • Communicating existing and potential issues with the Production Manager and Maintenance Director.
  • Maintain and complete all documentation for maintenance duties performed 
  • Cleaning and maintaining the tools you work with 
  • Always abiding by all safety measures and policies
  • Ability to read and interpret the scope of work and blueprints, technical manuals, and write diagrams
  • Ability to work independently and manage time and prioritize work responsibilities, assume and manage multiple tasks without close supervision, adapt to change, and consistently meet deadlines
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years’ experience within manufacturing in metal stamping, assembly, and packaging operations.
  • Knowledge of PLCs preferred 
  • Electrical Experience preferred
  • Press mechanic experience required
  • 2 years’ experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical components of industrial machinery preferred
  • Proficient in reading diagrams, user manuals, written instructions, and blueprints
  • Ability to maintain machinery in a safe, efficient manner
  • Basic computer skills are necessary
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects at one time
  • Excellent problem-solving skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The work environment characteristics are as described; while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to varied temperatures due to working in a non-air-conditioned facility. In addition, the employee is regularly exposed to oil, grease, dust, odors, fumes, a loud noise environment, and may work near moving mechanical parts. The work environment is not climate-controlled.

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to perform movements such as lifting, pulling, pushing, bending, stooping, standing, and walking. Must be able to climb up and down, as well as work using a ladder.
  • Employee is regularly working near moving mechanical parts. 
  • Must be present on the job to perform the assigned duties and be able to work overtime, which may be required to meet production schedules

Preferred Skills

  • Prefer those with a solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Experience working in a safety capacity within a manufacturing environment is preferred
