Compensation: $52-$55hr
NATURE OF THE WORK:
This professional position assists with overseeing the pharmacy services department in the absence of the Director of Pharmacy Services. In the absence of the Director of Pharmacy Services, the position reports to the Chief Medical Officer.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties listed below may vary in terms of importance and other duties may be added or eliminated as this position develops.
1. Oversee the daily operation and functionality of the Pharmacy Services Department and Staff
2. Provide clinical support of current programs (including Medication Adherence -, Patient Safety -, and Opioid Overutilization Monitoring Programs)
3. Assist iCare multidisciplinary teams and members with clinically based pharmacy questions.
4. Assist in managing the plan’s relationship with its vendor to ensure compliance with the plan’s regulatory and contractual obligations
5. Monitor the completion of comprehensive medication reviews and assist in increasing the number of members that participate in a CMR each year
6. Assist in recommending drug therapy changes to prescribers through phone calls and written communications
7. Provide clinical support to Care Management staff, participating in interdisciplinary team meetings when possible
8. Communicate as needed with members’ primary care physicians regarding the members’ drug therapy (especially opioid drug therapy)
9. Consult with the plan’s Chief Medical Officer, General Counsel, and other plan departments on questions relating to authorizations, provider communication, appeals and grievances
10. Maintain a working familiarity with prevailing governmental regulations, clinical guidelines, performance standards, and related pharmaceutical best practices
11. Maintain standards, certifications and/or licenses necessary to support ongoing professional standing as a pharmacist
Marginal Functions:
1. Supervise Pharmacy Services Representatives
2. Interact with PBM as necessary
3. Assist with the quality review of audit specific reports.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Current, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the State of Wisconsin
2. 2 - 3 years of work experience as a pharmacist
3. Advanced Degree – PharmD (or equivalent work experience)
4. Effective communication, analytical, and organizational skills
5. Aptitude for learning new computer data management tools
6. Proficient skills with Microsoft Office products, Outlook, Word, and Excel
7. Ability to operate both independently and in a team environment with other staff
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Working familiarity with Medicare and Medicaid pharmacy regulations.
2. Ability to learn database query tools
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Ability to use the computer in a quick and efficient manner
WORK CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT:
1. Majority of work conducted in the office, some work may be performed off site
2. General office setting, work environment may be crowded and noisy at times
3. Availability to provide coverage for department vacations
