Summary:
Responsible for determining eligibility and administering benefits for the Indian General Assistance and Miscellaneous Financial Assistance Programs. Acts as a liaison between clients and community resources, supports the Social Services Director, and promotes improved services for Pyramid Lake residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interview clients and assess financial assistance eligibility.
- Verify documentation and resolve discrepancies.
- Develop case plans to support client self-sufficiency.
- Calculate payments per Federal, State, and Tribal guidelines.
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure confidentiality.
- Conduct home visits and coordinate with Tribal Work Experience Program.
- Refer clients to other agencies and assist with applications.
- Support distribution of commodity foods and transportation for appointments.
- Represent the department at community events and evaluate service effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of welfare programs, office skills, and Native American culture.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
- Valid Nevada driver’s license and insurability.
- High school diploma or GED; 3 years of relevant experience.
