Summary:
Responsible for determining eligibility and administering benefits for the Indian General Assistance and Miscellaneous Financial Assistance Programs. Acts as a liaison between clients and community resources, supports the Social Services Director, and promotes improved services for Pyramid Lake residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interview clients and assess financial assistance eligibility.
  • Verify documentation and resolve discrepancies.
  • Develop case plans to support client self-sufficiency.
  • Calculate payments per Federal, State, and Tribal guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure confidentiality.
  • Conduct home visits and coordinate with Tribal Work Experience Program.
  • Refer clients to other agencies and assist with applications.
  • Support distribution of commodity foods and transportation for appointments.
  • Represent the department at community events and evaluate service effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of welfare programs, office skills, and Native American culture.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
  • Valid Nevada driver’s license and insurability.
  • High school diploma or GED; 3 years of relevant experience.
