Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Welder to join our production team. This role involves performing certified welding tasks, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and contributing to the fabrication and repair of tool molds. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following all procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Perform certified welding tasks in positions 1G and 2G using SMAW and/or GMAW techniques.
- Cut, fit, and weld components to build and repair tool molds.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding production status and equipment needs.
- Document work performed, including order details, part numbers, and time spent.
- Participate in setup reduction efforts and assist with machine changeovers as needed.
- Inspect work areas daily to ensure all safety guards and equipment are in place.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production goals.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Certified to AWS D.15 standards.
- SMAW and/or GMAW certification required.
- Ability to perform welding in positions 1G and 2G.
- 2–3 years of experience welding using MIG, TIG, Stick 6010/7018.
- 2–3 years of experience in cutting, fitting, and welding for mold repair and fabrication.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across all levels of staff.
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs periodically.
- Standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting throughout the shift.
- Reaching above shoulder height and below the waist as needed.
- Must wear specific PPE including welding leathers, face shield, eye protection, gloves, and steel-toe footwear.
Work Environment
- Exposure to seasonal temperature variations (0°F to 110°F).
- Hot conditions near welding equipment.
- Presence of welding smoke and fumes.
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, chemicals, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
- Moderate to loud noise levels; hearing protection required.
