Champaign County Job Summary: The Powder Coat Operator A is responsible for loading, unloading, masking, and unmasking parts on the conveyor line. Duties/Responsibility: • Load and unload parts from the line. • Prepare parts for coating. • Change hooks and rack setting line up for parts. • Check for ground point for bare metal and grind if needed. • Hook cleaning and sorting as required. • Change hooks and rack setting line up for parts. • Vacuum residual water from cabinets after washing when needed. • Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects. • Assist in other duties as required. Required Skills/Abilities: • Attention to detail and alter to ensure safety. • Ability to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, shop orders, bill of materials, procedures, safety instructions, and machine manuals. • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. 08-100116-0, Rev. F Education and Experience: • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Push and Pull carts and pallet jacks, loaded or empty. • Employees must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Charles Industries weight rule: 35 lbs. and under can be lifted alone. 35 - 50 lbs. can be lifted by one person if they feel comfortable doing so. 50 lbs. or more requires the employee to get assistance or use a lifting device. (i.e. pallet jack, forklift, scissor table, buddy system). • Vision abilities required are close, peripheral, and depth. Must have the ability to recognize color. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential job functions. • Employees regularly work near moving, vibrating mechanical equipment, occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and exposed to minimal risk of electrical shock. • The noise level is usually loud; hearing protection and testing are required. • Safety shoes/boots are required. • Working in the Powder Coating and/or Fab department may require employees to occasionally work around chemicals, as defined in the work instructions for the powder coating and/or plating operation areas.
