*PEORIA COUNTY* Potential Scope of Work Duties: Manual & CNC machining The machinist will set up and operate various machining equipment such as lathes and mills in order to machine and fabricate components to precise customer specifications under the supervision of the Cobalt Machine Shop Manager.• Set up and operation of the following equipment, including tooling, work-holding and workpieces: Manual Lathe – turn the OD, bore, face, chamfer, cut tapers Manual Mill for facing, drilling and milling operations Semi-Auto Vertical Band Saw – for rough stock cuts and finish operations Key Seater• Reads production drawings and/or packing list to determine requirements and procedure Read prints & job orders to determine dimensions and machine set-up Knowledge of metal properties and other materials Operate various hand tools, such as sanders, buffers, grinders, etc Assists in ordering, receiving, and storing materials and supplies Use measurement tools to ensure the accuracy of parts Complete QC prior to sending complete POs to the customer Some manual MIG welding Keeps workplace and equipment clean Recycles steel and removes garbage from the shop on a regular schedule Adhere to all company and QMS processes, procedures, policies, and requirements Familiarity with HAAS milling machines preferred Qualifications: Excellent math & mechanical skills/aptitude Attention to detail and the ability & desire to do precision work Previous experience with lathes and mills Previous experience with welding is preferred, but not required Forklift certification is preferred, but not required Physical Ability: Ability to lift 50-75 pounds safely and repetitively throughout the workday Education/Experience: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide Potential hazard exposures may include: cuts and abrasions from using hand tools, cuts from metals, heavy lifting, fumes and/or airborne particles, pinch points near machinery, extreme temperatures, slip and fall hazards.
