Summary/Objective
An ideal person will know how to operate a vertical and lathe. They will need to be able to take a print and produce a part off the machine. Other things they will need to be capable of are zeroing tools and work surfaces, setting feeds and speeds, and quality checking their own parts.
Preferred programming/G-code experience
• Calculate dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometers or calipers
• Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines
• Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
• Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition
• Organize machine programs
• Responsible for managing tooling needs
• Have all pieces verified by quality (if quality is not available, use the “buddy system” to ensure quality of pieces)
• Ensure all parts are labeled and have job travelers with correct parts and record count for those parts
• Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate products
• Keep the assigned workstation swept and cleaned as necessary, keep clutter and trip hazards out of work areas
• Use PPE, per training, as required for the specific task being performed
• Other jobs and/or duties as directed
Education/Experience
o High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) - preferred but not required – if candidate does not have either, make sure you add to the submittal they do not have one.
o 1-2 years manual and CNC machining experience
Physical requirements
• Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
• Must be able to lift and move 50 lbs
• Must be able to stoop, bend, and reach overhead to assemble and/or move products.
• Must be able to stand and work on your feet for an entire shift
