Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician for our client in Portland, OR. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of heavy-duty vehicles, including forklifts, cranes/front-end loaders, and baler equipment. This role requires a deep understanding of diesel engines, strong troubleshooting skills, and strict adherence to safety protocols to ensure safe and efficient equipment operation.

 

Pay: $37-39

Shift: Monday-Friday 6am to 2:30pm.

 

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with diesel engines and their components.

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance (PMs) on heavy-duty vehicles.

  • Communicate effectively with operators to explain repairs and provide updates on equipment progress.

  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a secure work environment.

  • Utilize hand tools and shop tools to complete repairs and maintenance tasks.

 

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Ability to follow instructions accurately.

  • Knowledge of equipment repair, with a focus on diesel engines.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and critical thinking skills for diagnosing complex issues.

  • Welding skills for equipment repairs.

  • Proficiency in 12/24V electrical maintenance and hydraulic systems repairs.

  • Familiarity with hand tools, electricity, and preventive maintenance procedures.

  • Drivers license.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • 2-5 years of related experience preferred.

  • Strong active learning skills to adapt to new information for problem-solving and decision-making.

 

Hand Tools Required/Shop Tools Available

  • Required: Basic hand tools set.

  • Available: Large sledgehammers, pry bars, chains, hoists, come-alongs, jack stands, and portable hydraulic jacks.

 

Working Conditions

  • Work performed inside facilities or outside in all weather conditions.

  • Involves handling heavy equipment, baler machines, and conveyor machines.

 

Physical Demands

  • Lift up to 50 lbs consistently and 100 pounds occasionally.

  • Bend, reach/handle and twist.
