LK Jordan is seeking a dependable and motivated Unit Operator to join our operations team. This position offers a pathway for advancement into a Senior Unit Operator role and is ideal for candidates who are safety-focused, technically inclined, and eager to grow their career in industrial operations.
Job Summary:
The Unit Operator plays a critical role in plant operations, reporting directly to the Operations Supervisor and working within a designated shift team. This role involves supporting day-to-day plant activities, learning technical systems, and developing the operational experience required for long-term success and promotion.
Primary Responsibilities:
Operational Support
- Assist senior operators with the operation and maintenance of plant process equipment.
- Support daily operations with a focus on safety, efficiency, and reliability.
Technical Competency
- Operate and monitor equipment using a Distributed Control System (DCS).
- Perform data entry and reporting using computer-based systems.
Behavioral Expectations
- Adhere to all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a reliable attendance record and report to work on time.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with housekeeping standards.
- Be available for reasonable overtime and emergency call-ins.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Work Experience:
- Prior operational or industrial experience preferred.
- Familiarity with tasks such as hot sample collection, vessel insulation, flushing and reassembly, and equipment cleaning is beneficial.
- Ability to evaluate equipment conditions and apply basic troubleshooting skills.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Shift Schedule:
This position follows a rotating 12-hour shift schedule consisting of alternating day and night shifts:
Two-Week Day Shift Cycle (5:30 AM – 5:30 PM):
- Week 1: Work Monday–Tuesday, off Wednesday–Thursday, work Friday–Sunday
- Week 2: Off Monday–Tuesday, work Wednesday–Thursday, off Friday–Sunday
Two-Week Night Shift Cycle (5:30 PM – 5:30 AM):
- Week 3: Work Monday–Tuesday, off Wednesday–Thursday, work Friday–Sunday
- Week 4: Off Monday–Tuesday, work Wednesday–Thursday, off Friday–Sunday
- Night shift includes a $0.50 per hour shift differential
- Typical cycle totals approximately 84 hours every two weeks (not including coverage for PTO)
