Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate Field Mechanics, ensuring proper work assignments and timely task completion.
- Assist in scheduling field service appointments, prioritizing work to maintain an efficient and orderly workflow.
- Perform preventive and corrective mechanical services on centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, including disassembly, repair, and reassembly to ensure proper alignment, balance, and tolerances.
- Identify and communicate work-related deficiencies, including changes due to customer specifications, production requirements, or equipment/technology updates, to the Field/Shop Service Manager.
- Conduct on-the-job training for new hires and existing employees needing refresher training. Complete and submit training documentation to the Document Control Manager.
- Enforce and adhere to all safety procedures and regulations, ensuring safe operations and compliance by staff.
- Perform field maintenance tasks such as equipment troubleshooting, installation/removal, and repairs.
- Remove, rebuild, and clean compressor rotors.
- Replace, rebuild, and install gearboxes.
- Interpret and work from mechanical drawings.
- Support performance management of field staff, including corrective action, competency assessments, discipline, and annual performance reviews.
- Advise customers on necessary repairs and recommend preventative maintenance strategies.
- Accurately document all field activities using performance and quality logs and forms.
- Maintain accurate records and reports for document control.
- Participate in quarterly and annual competency assessments, including quizzes, hands-on tests, verbal protocols, and on-the-job verifications.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Key Activities:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and procedures; recommend improvements to existing standards.
- Participate in hiring processes, coordinate training programs, and address employee performance issues, including disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Inspect equipment for issues such as bearing clearances and rotor condition.
- Perform compressor repairs, including disassembly and mechanical seal removal.
- Maintain shift continuity through detailed documentation and communication of ongoing work, issues, and requirements.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul various types of compressors per manufacturer guidelines and company policies.
- Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3–5 years of supervisory/management experience in field operations.
- 3–5 years of experience in the petrochemical industry.
- Commitment to maintaining a drug-free work environment as per company policy.
- Proficiency with hand tools, machine tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Solid understanding of quality management systems.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings.
- Strong basic math skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license required.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
- Comfortable using computers and digital tools in a work environment.
