Job Title: Assistant Controller (with Path to Controller)
Location: Corpus Christi, TX
Work Schedule: Full-time, on-site | Casual environment | Generally 40 hours/week
About the Opportunity:
A stable and growing construction services company in Corpus Christi is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join their close-knit accounting team. This is a hands-on leadership role with a clear path to becoming the Controller within approximately one year.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage day-to-day accounting operations: AP, AR, payroll, bank reconciliations, and general ledger entries

Prepare and support monthly financial reporting and job costing analysis

Assist with the preparation of annual audits and the Texas Department of Transportation questionnaire

Support Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and related journal entries

Oversee and develop accounting staff

Ensure accuracy of financial data and compliance with internal controls

Maintain and work within Foundation construction accounting software

Collaborate closely with ownership on financial strategy and planning
What You'll Bring:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience

5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based industries

Familiarity with WIP reports, certified payroll, and accrual accounting

Working knowledge of accounting software; Foundation experience a plus

Intermediate Excel skills (must understand formulas and formatting)

Strong leadership potential with the ability to build trust and balance compassion with accountability

Compensation & Perks:

Starting salary: $70,000 plus depending on experience (with potential for accelerated increase based on performance)
