The HVAC Technician is responsible for performing skilled work, including installation, repair, modification, and maintenance on various types of light commercial and residential air conditioning and heating equipment. Models and ensures high performance and customer service delivery consistent with the client’s mission, vision, and values. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Troubleshoots repairs, installs, and maintains a variety of heating and air conditioning equipment. 
  • Performs electrical checks on three-phase 460-volt A/C equipment. 
  • Removes pumps and performs routine maintenance work. 
  • Replace air conditioning filters and pipe insulation. 
  • Adjusts and calibrates temperature control devices on pneumatic and electronic A/C systems. 
  • Performs preventive maintenance inspections and repairs. 
  • Installs new equipment within given diagrams, schematics, instructions, prevailing codes, and safety practices. 
  • Adjust and maintains controls on heat pump systems. 
  • Initiates requisitions for parts, supplies, and other related materials necessary to perform scheduled work. 
  • Utilizes the tools and equipment of the HVAC trade. 
  • Utilize blueprints, diagrams, and schematics to troubleshoot, diagnose, and identify operating problems of heating and air conditioning equipment. 
  • Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Resume required or provide detailed work history and experience
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Required
  • Driver’s License Required
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
  • 2 years of experience in installing, operating, maintaining and repairing heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems.
  • License + Certificates Required ¦ EPA Certification or the ability to obtain the EPA certification upon hire. 


Preferred Qualification

  • General knowledge of HVAC equipment repair, installation, and maintenance procedures, practices and techniques of electronic and pneumatic HVAC control systems. 
  • Knowledge of the operation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of refrigerators, heating and air-conditioning systems. 
  • Must have the ability to learn and use cloud applications such as the Google GSuite applications, including but not limited to Google Chrome Browser, Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, and Slides. 
  • Understand document sharing and collaboration in the cloud. Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, cloud-accessible applications including but not limited to One Drive, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, or MAC or PC desktop equivalent, is acceptable.  
  • Ability to learn cloud technologies such as Lucid Chart for diagram, workflow and chart drawing. 
  • Experience with Vizio or equivalent is acceptable. 
  • Basic understanding of Virtual Private Network (VPN) access to connect to internal business systems. 

Working Environment

  • Work in a variety of environments, including residential, commercial, and industrial settings. 
  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and may involve working in confined spaces such as attics, basements, crawlspaces, or rooftops. 
  • Technicians are regularly exposed to loud noises, dust, chemicals, and moving mechanical parts.
  • This role may involve traveling between job sites and working in occupied or unoccupied buildings. 
  • Job duties often require collaboration with other trades and communication with clients, contractors, or building management. Safety is a top priority, and technicians must adhere to all OSHA standards, company policies, and safety procedures always.
  • The position may require a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, or on-call shifts in case of emergency repairs.

Physical and Mental Requirements 

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 75 lbs. occasionally
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working at heights
  • Manual dexterity and coordination for handling tools and equipment in tight or awkward spaces
  • Must be able to work in hot or cold conditions for extended periods
  • Good vision and hearing for assessing system functionality and diagnosing issues
  • Stamina to work on your feet or in physically demanding positions for long durations
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to diagnose complex HVAC issues
  • Ability to understand and follow technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and written instructions
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in repairs, measurements, and documentation
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and handle multiple service calls in a day
  • Strong communication and customer service skills when interacting with clients
  • Capacity to stay calm and focused in urgent or high-pressure situations, including emergency repair work
