The Industrial Machine Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial machinery and equipment to ensure optimal production efficiency and safety. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, a proactive mindset toward problem-solving, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment malfunctions including motors, conveyors, pumps, and control systems
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical manuals
- Assist in the installation, modification, and relocation of new and existing machinery
- Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance
- Operate various hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments safely and effectively
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs
- Adhere to company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA standards
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability and operational efficiency
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in industrial machine maintenance or a similar role
- Proficient knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical components, and industrial controls
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as schematics, manuals, and diagrams
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
- Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
Preferred Qualification
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Familiarity with industrial automation systems and control panels
- Vocational or technical training in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or a related field
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Working Environment
- Work is performed in a manufacturing or production facility
- Exposure to noise, machinery, grease, dust, and fluctuating temperatures (hot/cold)
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required
- Fast-paced environment with occasional interruptions and urgent maintenance needs
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces
- Ability to operate hand tools and power equipment for extended periods
- Must be able to respond quickly to audible alarms or machine sounds
- High attention to detail and awareness of safety protocols
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and handle multiple assignments
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills under pressure
- Capable of understanding and applying technical instructions and documentation
