The Event Command Dispatcher is essential to the success of event operations, ensuring effective communication and coordination of custodial and janitorial teams in real time. The ideal candidate will have prior event experience, be bilingual in English and Spanish, and thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Act as the primary communication link between the command center and on-site custodial teams
- Dispatch staff to respond to service calls, spills, restocking needs, and other cleaning-related issues
- Maintain accurate logs of calls, assignments, and completed tasks
- Communicate clearly and professionally via radio and phone in both English and Spanish
- Monitor staff activity and ensure appropriate coverage throughout the venue
- Respond quickly to changing conditions or urgent situations
- Assist with shift transitions and brief incoming staff on current priorities
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 6 months of experience in a custodial/janitorial role at events, venues, or large facilities
- Bilingual – English and Spanish (spoken communication required)
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
- Valid ID Required
- Excellent verbal communication and coordination skills
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules
Preferred Qualification
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and organized under pressure
- Familiarity with radio communication or dispatch systems preferred
Working Environment
- Works in a centralized command center within a large venue or event facility.
- The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, especially during peak event hours.
- This role involves constant communication with on-site teams via two-way radio, monitoring multiple channels, and quickly responding to cleaning or maintenance needs across the property.
- While primarily an indoor role, it requires awareness of real-time field conditions and close coordination with mobile staff.
- Some periods of high noise levels and tight deadlines should be expected, especially during large-scale or live events.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods while monitoring radios, logs, and communications
- Manual dexterity to operate phones, radios, and basic office equipment
- Occasional light walking or standing may be required to assist with operational oversight
- Strong auditory and verbal communication skills, particularly in a noisy or high-stress environment
- Ability to multitask and make quick decisions under pressure
- Must remain alert, focused, and organized for long shifts
- Capable of handling fast-paced work with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities
- Must maintain a calm and professional demeanor when addressing urgent or emergencies
