Position Type: Full-Time / Temporary-to-Hire
Position Summary:
The Material Handler in the Laundry Warehouse is responsible for safely handling, loading, unloading, and transporting linens, uniforms, and other materials throughout the facility. This role supports production efficiency and inventory accuracy by ensuring all items are properly sorted, staged, and delivered to designated areas. The ideal candidate demonstrates reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Load and unload carts, bags, and containers of clean and soiled linens, garments, or laundry materials.
- Move materials between receiving, washing, drying, sorting, folding, and shipping areas.
- Operate company vehicles or industrial carts to transport items between warehouse sections or to delivery docks.
- Ensure proper handling to prevent damage or contamination of clean laundry.
- Maintain accurate counts of materials moved, staged, or shipped.
- Assist with organizing storage areas and maintaining clear pathways for safety and efficiency.
- Support production teams by supplying materials or removing completed loads as needed.
- Follow safety procedures for operating vehicles, lifts, and other warehouse equipment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to a supervisor immediately.
- Participate in general housekeeping and sanitation duties to maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License (required) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 6 months of warehouse, material handling, or industrial laundry experience.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Must be able to work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays, or overtime as required.
- Must adhere to all company safety and uniform policies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in commercial laundry or textile production environments.
- Prior use of pallet jacks, hand trucks, or forklifts (certification a plus).
- Basic computer or scanning system experience for inventory tracking.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Working Environment:
- Work performed primarily in a laundry production and warehouse setting with exposure to industrial machinery, warm or humid conditions, and moderate noise levels.
- Frequent exposure to moving carts, damp linens, cleaning chemicals, and high-traffic work areas.
- May occasionally work outdoors or in non-climate-controlled areas.
- Fast-paced, team-oriented environment with strict production timelines.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move continuously throughout the shift (8–10 hours).
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and repetitive hand motions.
- Ability to safely operate hand trucks, carts, and company vehicles.
- Maintain alertness and focus while performing repetitive tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Must maintain composure and productivity under pressure or during high-volume workloads.
