Job Title: Banquet / Event Bartender

Position Type: Temporary / On-Call



Position Summary:


The Banquet/Event Bartender is responsible for setting up, preparing, and serving beverages during banquets, receptions, and special events. This role requires exceptional customer service skills, adherence to alcohol service laws, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and composure.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare bar area prior to event, ensuring cleanliness, proper stock levels, and functionality of equipment.
  • Greet guests courteously and take drink orders in a timely manner.
  • Mix, garnish, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes and guest preferences.
  • Monitor guest consumption and comply with all state and local alcohol service laws.
  • Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately, maintaining a balanced cash drawer.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of bar area throughout and after event.
  • Restock supplies, glassware, and beverages as needed during service.
  • Communicate with event supervisors or banquet captains regarding special requests, drink shortages, or guest concerns.
  • Assist with event setup and breakdown, including loading/unloading supplies when necessary.
  • Follow all company safety, sanitation, and appearance policies.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Minimum 6 months to 1 year of bartending experience in a banquet, restaurant, or event setting.
  • Knowledge of drink recipes, proper glassware, and responsible alcohol service standards.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain TABC (or equivalent state alcohol certification) prior to assignment.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as event schedules require.
  • Reliable transportation to and from event sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in hotel banquets, catering, or high-volume event venues.
  • Food Handler certification (depending on local requirements).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
  • Cash handling or POS system experience.

Working Environment:

  • Work performed primarily in banquet halls, event venues, stadiums, or outdoor event spaces.
  • Fast-paced, high-energy atmosphere with frequent guest interaction.
  • May be exposed to varying temperatures, loud noise levels, and crowded environments.
  • Frequent contact with alcohol and cleaning chemicals.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift).
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move items up to 40 lbs (cases of beverages, kegs, bar equipment).
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Manual dexterity to handle glassware and bar tools safely.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations (cash handling and drink measurements).
  • Maintain composure and professionalism under pressure and in busy environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction.
