The Carpenter is responsiblecoordinate closely with other carpenters and helpers to ensure daily assigned tasks are completed to synchronize with other trades, and that unexpected challenges such as newly identified hazards, incomplete work, code violations or structural defects in existing construction are identified to the supervisor immediately before deviating from task completion priority.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Construct and install building frameworks, such as walls, floors, and doorframes. 
  • Install fixtures and structures, like windows and molding. 
  • Measuring, cutting, and shaping: Carpenters measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials. 
  • Inspecting and Replacing: They will inspect and replace damaged frameworks or other structures and fixtures. 
  • Ensure all relevant zoning laws, building codes, and workplace safety regulations are followed.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires regular driver’s license. 
  • Must have at minimum Liability Insurance 
  • Attention to detail 
  • Physically able to perform job duties as listed above. 

Working Environment

  • Work may be performed indoors and outdoors, often in varying weather conditions.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
  • The area is noisy and requires good receptive communication skills.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, vest, etc.)
  • Must be able to reach above shoulder height and below the waist frequently
  • May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.
  • Must be able to move in and around confined spaces and uneven areas.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects frequently
  • Will climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
  • Will lift, push, or pull objects up to 50Ibs. on an occasional basis
  • Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, handle, reach outward, reach above shoulder, crawl, squat/Kneel, bend, push, and pull frequently. Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on a work surface.
  • Ability to use upper and lower extremities to move or transport 25 to 50 pounds, including pressing against something to force it in a forward, downward, or outward position or drag, haul 25 to 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist, bending legs at the knees and moving extremities in any direction
  • Ability to withstand physical demands on the body, including being in a stationary and/or standing position most of the day
  • Ability to express and exchange ideas using the spoken word, including where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly
  • Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information
