Job Title: Booking Department Technician/Associate

Position Summary: The Booking Department Technician plays a critical role in the front-end of our productionprocess by accurately receiving, measuring, evaluating, and documenting all incoming rolls.This position requires both mechanical aptitude and precision, as all measurements directly affect order entry, job planning, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a forklift and overhead/industrial crane to unload and handle incoming
- rolls.
- Use hand tools to remove crate lids, unscrew fasteners, and unstrap rolls.
- Set rolls on rotation stands and prepare them for inspection.
- Accurately measure journal diameters, core diameters, face lengths, and groove details
- using tools such as tape measures, micrometers, and pi tape.
- Assess groove patterns and identify specific features and conditions on the roll surface.
- Determine the condition of the roll and identify necessary repairs.
- Assign pricing for repairs based on internal guidelines or past work history.
- Enter all measurement data, repair needs, and groove specifications into booking documentation.
- Maintain an orderly and clean work environment, ensuring safe and efficient operation
- at all times.
- Communicate with other departments when discrepancies or issues arise.
- Perform quality checks to ensure all data entered is complete and accurate before the roll moves to the next stage.
Required Skills Qualifications:
- Proficient in forklift operation and overhead crane use (certification preferred).
- Comfortable using mechanical tools and measuring instruments, including:
- Tape measure
- Micrometer
- Pi tape
- Basic hand tools
- Strong documentation skills and familiarity with Epicor or similar ERP systems.
- Ability to interpret and document technical specifications with accuracy.
- High attention to detail and commitment to precision.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to assess roll condition. Physical ability to lift, move, and position heavy components using proper equipment and safety procedures.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to cleanliness and safety in the workplace.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Familiarity with roll manufacturing or repair industry a plus.
- Previous experience in a booking, receiving, or inspection role.
