Job Title: Legal Assistant - Worker’s Compensation

Location: Monmouth County, New Jersey

Salary: $50,000 - $80,000 per year. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Our client, located in Monmouth County, New Jersey, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant with experience in worker’s compensation to join their dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of worker’s compensation laws and procedures, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Bilingual candidates fluent in Spanish are highly preferred.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist attorneys in preparing and filing legal documents related to worker’s compensation cases, including petitions, motions, and briefs.
  2. Conduct client intakes and gather relevant information to support case development.
  3. Maintain and organize case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  4. Schedule appointments, court dates, and hearings, and manage attorney calendars.
  5. Communicate effectively with clients, medical providers, and insurance representatives to gather necessary information and updates on claims.
  6. Draft correspondence, summaries, and reports as needed.
  7. Research state and federal laws, statutes, and regulations pertinent to worker’s compensation cases.
  8. Assist in the preparation of trial materials and exhibits, and attend hearings and trials as needed.
  9. Monitor case progress and deadlines to ensure timely completion of filings and responses.
  10. Perform general administrative duties, including answering phones, managing office supplies, and maintaining an organized workspace.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a legal assistant, with significant experience in worker’s compensation required.
  2. Bilingual in Spanish and English is highly preferred.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
  4. Strong understanding of worker’s compensation laws and procedures.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  7. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  8. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
