Human Services Community Outreach Coordinator (Bilingual Preferred)  


Position Summary:


The Temporary Human Services Community Outreach Coordinator will assist individuals and families in accessing essential public programs and services. The role requires familiarity with social services programs such as Medicaid, Cash Assistance, SNAP Benefits, ANCHOR, and LIHEAP, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills. The Temporary Human Services Community Outreach Coordinator will provide residents with support, manage outreach efforts, and maintain detailed records. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for outreach activities is required. Fluency in Spanish is preferred.  This is a 6 month temporary position.


Key Responsibilities:


- Resident Support and Services:

  - Assist residents with applications for social services programs (e.g., Medicaid, SNAP, Cash Assistance, LIHEAP etc.).

  - Provide clear guidance and support in navigating public assistance systems.

  - Ensure sensitive and confidential communication with residents, responding to inquiries via phone, email, or in-person.


- Outreach and Program Awareness:

  - Conduct outreach to promote awareness of Human Services programs within the community.

  - Participate in events and collaborate with local partners to increase visibility of available services.

  - Work evenings and weekends as needed to support outreach initiatives.


- Collaboration and Teamwork:

  - Work effectively with colleagues and external partners to provide comprehensive support.

  - Use conflict resolution skills when addressing challenging resident interactions.


- Administrative and Organizational Tasks:

  - Manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities to meet deadlines.

  - Maintain organized files, generate reports, and track relevant data.


Qualifications:


- Knowledge: Familiarity with social services programs (e.g., Medicaid, SNAP Benefits, LIHEAP).

- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain programs to residents. Active listening and confidentiality in resident interactions.

- Interpersonal Skills: Empathy and patience when working with diverse populations, including vulnerable individuals and families.

- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Suite) 

- Bilingual (Preferred): Fluency in both English and Spanish.

- Organizational Skills: Ability to handle multiple responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records.

- Outreach and Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings and weekends to support outreach efforts.


Preferred Experience:

- Previous experience in social services or related fields.

- Familiarity with online communication platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet).

- Experience working with low-income or vulnerable populations.
