Lab Technicians

Our client, a clinical laboratory located in Hamilton, New Jersey, is seeking Lab Accessioners. The Clinical Lab Accessioner is responsible for unpacking FedEx Specimen deliveries and properly count and compare the courier and field service technician specimens to route sheets.

This is a full-time position.

Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 10:30AM to 5:00PM.

Pay Rate: $15.49/hr.

Essential Functions:

1. Unpack FedEx Specimen deliveries
2. Properly count/compare the courier and field service technician specimens to route sheets
3. Correctly identify all necessary information on a test requisition form
4. Match information on the test requisition with information on the collection vial for accuracy
5. Identify correct documentation and procedures for missing or discrepant information
6. Demonstrate proper use of MDL test codes and panels
7. Properly accession multiple types of specimen including blood, urine, swabs, ticks, biopsies, etc
8. Properly take pictures of outside specimen vial/container for QC purposes
9. Properly print labels and number of requisitions with the corresponding specimens
10. Demonstrate proper use of scanning systems
11. Properly sort and prepare all paperwork for scanning
12. Properly sort samples in ascending order, as well as set up samples according to an XG sheet
13. Properly locate a sample requested by the clinical lab, quality control, or the SRC department
14. Complete any paperwork that should come down from QC/SRC
15. Archive all file all paperwork in order to distribute to the appropriate bins/boxes
16. Demonstrate proper use of a Sample Scan 96
17. Properly print labels for plates, preparing them to be scanned
18. Properly take temperatures of the clinical lab

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Assist Lab Manager and/or shift coordinator in all daily activities or additional duties as delegated
2. Performs other similar or related duties as required or assigned
3. Assures activities are conducted in a safe manner and materials are handles according to safety guidelines
4. Assures customer privacy is maintained at all times
5. Participates as a team member and is accountable for own work responsibilities
6. Assures information is delivered in a manner that is supportive, timely and understandable
7. Initiative is demonstrated to proactively diagnose and resolve problems
8. Productive work habits are consistently displayed
9. Accuracy and quality are maintained for all activities

Skills and Qualifications:

1. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team environment.
2. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
