Starting Salary: $36,626.99 for your first year ($39,800 your second year)

Summary:
Responsible for maintaining safety, security, and order within a correctional facility. Duties include supervising inmates, conducting security checks, responding to emergencies, processing intakes/releases, and supporting rehabilitation efforts.

Work Environment:
Duties are performed in a secure facility with direct contact with inmates. Exposure to stressful or hazardous situations may occur. Standard shifts are 12 hours and may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Essential Duties:

• Monitor inmate behavior and ensure compliance with facility rules.
• Conduct routine security checks of cells, common areas, and facility perimeter.
• Assist with inmate intake, release procedures, and property documentation.
• Respond to emergencies, including disturbances, medical incidents, or fires.
• Maintain incident and activity reports in accordance with regulations.
• Oversee inmate work assignments, education, and rehabilitation participation.
• Collaborate with internal staff and external professionals for facility operations.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong observation and communication skills.
• Calm under pressure with sound judgment.
• Able to work flexible hours, including long shifts and weekends.
• Must complete all required training and certification programs.
• Must pass a background check, polygraph, and drug screening.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Emergency response and incident management skills.
• Understanding of inmate rehabilitation programs.
• Strong documentation and record-keeping abilities.

Physical Demands:

• Prolonged standing, walking, and facility navigation.
• Ability to restrain individuals when needed.
• Possible exposure to contagious or hazardous conditions.
