Manufacturing Engineer

Direct-Hire | $63k-$90k DOE

Responsible for process improvements for all manufacturing processes, with a focus on material efficiency, ergonomics, and product quality. Works with production teams to identify specific improvement projects, and analyzes impact on material/labor cost, product quality, and employee safety. Provides technical support for improvement projects from the initial research stage to implementation in production; this would include prototype building, possible construction, employee training and testing the new process. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Performs project work on process improvements.
• Provides written descriptions of new or modified manufacturing processes, and coordinates the implementation of these into production. Calculates financial impact of process improvements.
• Provides training and support with regard to changes made in the process.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, and have the ability to communicate with a wide range of personalities. Must be able to work effectively with other employees, managers, vendors, and clients.
• Must be able to work through projects and resolve issues within the process with little supervision.
• Must be able to be on the plant floor frequently, and remain standing for long periods of time to perform testing, prototyping, machine run-off for new equipment, and new process implementation. Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures in an un-airconditioned, unheated environment up to 70% of the time.
• Be able to learn and program NC fabrication equipment.
• Must be able to use MS Office programs Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Must be able to comply with all required safety policies and wear the appropriate personal protection equipment. 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs other duties as directed by the Director of Manufacturing Engineering & Maintenance. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• College degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering is required. Prior experience preferred.
• Must be able to work in a team with other employees from different departments.
• Must possess excellent written skills.
• Must demonstrate excellent analytical skills.
• Must be organized and possess the ability to handle multiple projects.
• Position requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time in the production facility.
• Position requires the ability to perform the job while exposed to dust, fumes, moving heavy equipment, and extreme heat and cold up to 70% of the time.
• Position requires the ability to grasp and reach for production materials and equipment
