Summary of Duties, Responsibilities, and Goals Assures quality product by conducting in-process inspections, evaluating finished product. Essential Functions 1. Obtains various products at our production facilities for testing purposes • Performs physical testing on production samples to ensure production runs are within specified limits 2. Visits job sites to secure samples of material for further testing in order to resolve disputes. Tests include slump, air content, unit weight, and yield • Uses test standards as listed in ASTM, CalTrans, AASHTO or other municipal specifications. 3. Data entry of information into database, including new and revised mix designs and compressive strength results 4. Frequently lifts up to 50 lbs daily 5. Assists other technicians with material testing as needed 6. Performs service related duties as needed 7. Performs other duties and assignments as required Education, Prior Work Experience, Specialized Skills, and Knowledge • Must have high school diploma or general education degree (GED) • Some college level coursework preferred • 1 year of necessary experience preferred • Must have a proficiency in mathematics • Prefer computer literate (Windows environment) with spreadsheet experience • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs • Will work at heights on occasion • Prior construction experience preferred Essential Performance Skills • Problem solving • Organization and planning • Policy and procedure • Flexibility • Teamwork • Oral and written communication Physical Environment/Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
