Position Summary


A plumber on the Atlanta Airlines Terminal (AAT) Project’s plumbing team performs hands-on installation, maintenance, and repairs to the extensive plumbing systems across the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.  A successful plumbing candidate for this position must possess an intermediate working knowledge of the principles, practices, materials, tools, and equipment necessary to operate and maintain plumbing systems.  These services are delivered through work order assignments, special project assignments, and client requests consistent with the Georgia plumbing code.   The position reports to the AAT Project’s plumbing superintendent and work assignments are completed with limited supervision. The AAT Project operates three shifts daily on a 24/7/365 schedule.  Other work scheduling requirements may also apply to meet client or project requests, seasonal weather events, emergencies, or other special conditions.


Essential Job Functions


  1. Perform inspection, troubleshooting, and repairs on plumbing and other systems at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
  2. Work with communications equipment, including radios, workstations, tablets, testing devices, etc. to record work order information in the Hexagon enterprise asset system.
  3. Able to layout and estimate work required for plumbing projects, as well as plumbing system maintenance and repairs.
  4. Very familiar with domestic water, water, domestic water valve, hot and chilled water, boiler condensate systems, storm drainage systems; acid resistant, backflow prevention/check valve systems, and hot water recirculation systems.
  5. Work with copper, PVC, no-hub cast iron; hub, spigot, and threaded pipe.
  6. Work with tenured plumbing team members to complete complex plumbing tasks and projects as needed.
  7. Assist with other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  1. Knowledge of the Georgia Plumbing Code.
  2. Intermediate knowledge of general operations, safety practices and policies, as well as specific knowledge of procedures and standards applicable to the safe practice of the testing, inspection, servicing, preventative maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems.
  3. Competent using hand tools, power tools and equipment applicable to the testing, servicing, inspections, preventative maintenance, and repair of plumbing  systems.
  4. Good typing, verbal and written communication skills required.
  5. Ability to work cooperatively as a member of the plumbing team in the delivery services to the Atlanta Airlines Terminal Company, LLC.


Education


  1. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  2. Backflow prevention tester certification and Georgia Plumbing Contractor’s license preferred.


Experience Required


  1. Three years of pluming experience with five years preferred.
  2. Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to be covered by Jacobs’s insurance carrier.


Working Conditions


Working conditions in the work area can include indoor environments, as well as outdoor environments, which could cause exposure to changing weather conditions; proper environmental attire will be required.  Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens, and various chemicals.  The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.   Work assignments may require working a compressed or extended schedule, which may apply during extreme weather event operations.



Physical Requirements


Physical requirements to perform work will include ability to sit, stand, stoop, twist, and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination to work on equipment, have vision sufficient to maintain equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction.  In an 8-hour shift, must be able to walk long distances throughout the facility, lift objects up to 40 pounds from floor level to waist height, climb into and out of vehicles having high ground clearance; work in prone position under vehicles or equipment; wear and use appropriate safety equipment; work alternate shifts to meet client needs.


Physical requirements may include and require the use of ladders and aerial lifts in the performance of work assignments, which may also be completed in a variety of weather conditions.  Ladder and aerial lift usage must follow standard safety practices and protocols.  Only trained and certified operators may use an aerial lift.
