Job Summary
A highly motivated and experienced Process Engineer is sought, with at least five years of experience in the renewable or biomass energy sector. The ideal candidate will design, optimize, and oversee the construction and operation of facilities that convert biomass and other organic materials into energy or useful products.
Key Responsibilities
  • Process Design & Optimization: Design, develop, and optimize new and existing processes for renewable/biomass energy conversion, ensuring efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Technology Implementation: Contribute to the implementation of new technologies to maximize energy yields and reduce environmental impact, including those related to thermochemical processes (pyrolysis, gasification).
  • Feasibility Studies & Modeling: Conduct feasibility studies, process modeling, and participate in field tests for new or modified processes.
  • Troubleshooting & Improvement: Identify and troubleshoot complex process issues, including those related to flow, separation, compression, instrumentation, or control logic. Lead or contribute to root cause investigations following process upsets or operational challenges, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare process flow diagrams, equipment specifications, process descriptions, P&IDs, mass/energy balances, datasheets, and control narratives for review and approval. Prepare technical reports documenting process changes, test results, and quality issues.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, operations, R&D) and external partners (technology providers, contractors, consultants) throughout project phases. Provide technical training and mentorship to junior engineers and project team members.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with internal design standards, applicable codes (ASME, NFPA, etc.), and industry best practices. Ensure a high standard of safety is maintained and Environmental and Quality Assurance processes are followed.

  • Required Qualifications
    • A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in process engineering, focusing on renewable or biomass energy.
    • A strong understanding of chemical engineering principles and processes, particularly in the context of biomass conversion technologies.
    • Experience in process development, piloting, scale-up, and operations.
    • Experience with process simulation software and data analysis.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
