Qualifications:
Proven experience as a plumber
Be willing to support other general building maintenance activity
Understanding of water distribution and sewer systems in commercial buildings
Reviews service requests for repairs and maintenance, determines nature of problem, and executes appropriate solution
Ability to handle plumbing tools and equipment (pipe wrenches, pipe cutters, plungers etc.) and ability to run a drain cleaner (“jetter” or “snake”)
Operate hand and power tools and mechanical equipment effectively and safely, comply with safety requirements, and use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen
Ability to use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access databases, send/receive email messages, and to prepare documents.
Ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings
Ideally:
Diploma from a trade school or successful completion of apprenticeship
HS Diploma or GED, or experience in lieu of degree
Valid license or certifications to practice profession
Be Safety conscious
Experience working in a Computerized Maintenance Management environment is a plus
Basic working knowledge or understanding of HVAC, heating hot water and chilled water hydroponic piping systems is a plus
Backflow Prevention Tester Certification
Responsibilities:
Maintain well-functioning systems that transport water, waste, gases
Ability to read blueprints and drawings to understand the layout of plumbing, waste lines, water and air supply systems
Cut, assemble and install piping with attention to existing infrastructure
Maintain water supply system locate and repair issues
Repair or replace broken drainage lines, clogged drains, faucets etc.
Repair domestic appliances and fixtures etc.
Perform general building maintenance and repair duties relative to facilities maintenance
Stay on task and prioritize work load
