    Qualifications:

    Performs a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of a water/wastewater treatment plant including maintenance of equipment, quality control/testing and day-to-day activities on an assigned shift. This position typically holds or is working towards an intermediate level water/wastewater treatment certification.


    Preferred Qualifications:


    Basic familiarity of the principles and practices of water/wastewater treatment plant operations; operating principles of valves, pumps, and motors; principles and methods of bacteriological and chemical sewage analyses; effects and problems of industrial waste in water/wastewater treatment processes; safe work practices

    Knowledge of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, data management systems and be able to operate plant PLC’s and SCADA systems


    High School Diploma or possession of a GED Certificate

    Possession of a valid Driver’s License

    Must have a Oklahoma C level wastewater certification at a level required by the State in which the project is located

    12 months experience with a State approved D level Wastewater certification



    Responsibilities:


    Position reports to: Supervisor(s), Project Director, Project Manager

    Level of supervision the employee receives: Works under close supervision, employee’s work product is subject to close, continuous inspection. Employee receives detailed instructions on new projects and assignments.


    Essential Functions

    Operates treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/wastewater, sludge, and effluent

    Reports operating problems to lead operator or supervisor and performs directed corrective action during assigned shift

    Monitors gauges, meters, and control panels

    Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings and test results to determine process adjustment requirements.

    Operates valves and gates either manually or by remote control

    Starts and stops pumps, engines, and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processes

    Maintains shift log and records meter and gauge readings

    Collects samples and performs routine laboratory tests and analyses

    Performs routine maintenance functions and custodial duties

    Understands and carries out oral and written directions

    Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work

    Daily and punctual attendance in the office and/or job site or off-site locations is required

    This position required to be available on an on-call basis for emergencies and must live within 30 minutes of the facility to meet contractual response obligations.

    Travel between work locations is required.
