HVAC DX Technician I

HVAC Tech 1 career offers you the opportunity to support 90+ MDF/IDR (IT and Telecom) rooms at the Atlanta Airport. This support would include preventive maintenance and repair of the systems that control the temperature in these sensitive spaces.
In this position, you would perform preventive maintenance on direct expansion refrigeration systems as well as four pipe primary and secondary HVAC equipment, including belt and direct driven exhaust fans and fan coil units. You will be required to use standard HVAC testing equipment to identify, troubleshoot, and repair deficiencies with these types of systems. Must also be competent in troubleshooting, repair, and installation of Liebert data room cooling systems
To complete this work as an HVAC Tech 1 performing HVAC PMs, you will be required to use lifts and ladders in the performance of your assignments, which may also be completed in a variety of weather conditions. The ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally is required, along with experience using basic technology, such as a computer workstation and radio. Basic typing skills are also required. The AAT Project operates 3 shifts daily on a 24/7/365 schedule. Other work scheduling requirements may also apply during extreme weather events. Shift may be rotated to cover weekends to ensure necessary coverage to meet project and client requirements.
Basic QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED
- EPA 608 Certification or the ability to attain certification within 6 months of hire date required
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to be covered under the CH2M liability insurance
- One (1) years’ work experience maintaining and operating HVAC and other equipment in an industrial, commercial, or manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates degree from 2-year accredited college or technical school or equivalent experience
- CFC certification
- Three (3) years’ work experience maintaining and operating HVAC and other equipment in an industrial, commercial or manufacturing environment

You will need HVAC skills from working primarily in an industrial, commercial, manufacturing, institutional or other large facility setting that has systems and equipment commensurate with Hartsfield-Jackson, whose terminal and concourse building comprise 7.5 million square feet. The ideal candidate will have proven abilities in the following areas:
Demonstrated evidence of a strong commitment to completing exceptional quality work using the highest standards, requirements and safe work practices.
Three or more years of experience with HVAC maintenance and repair, including maintenance of air handler units, belt driven exhaust fans, DX split systems, and roof top package units
Strong overall mechanical skills, ability to proactively identify mechanical issues such as worn bearings, shafts, belts, etc. Ability to properly maintain mechanical equipment by cleaning and lubricating to O&M specifications.
Ability to read and understand O&M manuals to apply the correct maintenance for each system.
Experience with work order management technologies, such as Maintenance Connection, Maximo or similar systems. Infor, Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software is used to manage accounting, asset data collection, work order flow and completion, performance data management and reporting at Hartsfield-Jackson.

QUALIFICATIONS
HS diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
One (1) year experience, operating and maintaining large facility HVAC equipment
Working Conditions
Working conditions in the work area can include indoor environments, as well as outdoor environments, which could cause exposure to changing weather conditions; proper environmental attire will be required. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens, and various chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact. Work assignments may require working a compressed or extended schedule, which may apply during extreme weather event operations.
Physical Requirements
Physical requirements to perform work will include ability to sit, stand, stoop, twist, and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination to work on equipment, have vision sufficient to maintain equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. In an 8-hour shift, must be able to walk long distances throughout the facility, lift objects up to 40 pounds from floor level to waist height, climb into and out of vehicles having high ground clearance; work in prone position under vehicles or equipment; wear and use appropriate safety equipment; work alternate shifts to meet client needs.
Physical requirements may include and require the use of ladders and aerial lifts in the performance of work assignments, which may also be completed in a variety of weather conditions. Ladder and aerial lift usage must follow standard safety practices and protocols. Only trained and certified operators may use an aerial lift.
