HKA is working on behalf of Jacobs, and this role is to support Jacobs’ work through HKA



Essential Job Functions

  1. Operates standard HVAC testing equipment and uses HVAC tools applicable to repair and maintain HVAC systems.
  2. Monitors asset condition, schedules routine inspections, and performs maintenance and minor repairs using knowledge of DX Split System, Fan Coil Units, Exhaust Fans and Heaters, 4-pipe AHUs, VAV and fan coil boxes, and their components.
  3. Attends daily safety briefings and follows all safety directives.
  4. Completes work order data entry in a computerized maintenance management system (Hexagon) to include describing work tasks and labor hours completed, as well as correctly identifying HVAC and equipment assets and asset locations.
  5. Manages time and prioritizes work orders to ensure that client needs and expectations are met.  
  6. Performs quality repairs that extend the life of the facility.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Understanding of HVAC standards and practices consistent with industry requirements and a good working knowledge of the design, operation, and maintenance of chilled water and hot water systems.
  2. Familiarity with BMS systems such as Metasys, Insight, Tracer Summit, Honeywell, and ALC 20/20 and have knowledge of repairs required and maintenance of communication bus (N2 and BacNet).
  3. Familiarity with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) within HVAC operations and be able to visually confirm the status of VFD operations.
  4. Good computer, communication, and typing skills.
  5. Ability to work from lifts and ladders, as well as work in a variety of weather conditions.
  6. Ability to work adjusted schedules during extreme weather events. Weekend, holiday, and alternate shift work may be required to meet client requirements.

Education

  1. HS Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  2. Associate degree from 2-year accredited college or technical school or equivalent experience preferred.




Experience Required

  1. Three (3) years’ work experience maintaining and operating HVAC and other equipment in an industrial, commercial, or manufacturing environment required – 5 years’ experience is preferred.
  2. Valid driver’s license with ability to be covered by Jacobs liability insurance carrier.


Working Conditions

Working conditions in the work area can include indoor environments, as well as outdoor environments, which could cause exposure to changing weather conditions; proper environmental attire will be required.  Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens, and various chemicals.  The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.


Physical Requirements

Physical requirements to perform work will include ability to sit, stand, stoop, twist, and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination to work on equipment, have vision sufficient to maintain equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction.  In an 8-hour shift, must be able to walk long distances throughout the facility, lift objects up to 40 pounds from floor level to waist height, climb into and out of vehicles having high ground clearance; work in prone position under vehicles or equipment; wear and use appropriate safety equipment; work alternate shifts to meet client needs.
