Position Summary


The Facility Maintenance Technician (Call Catcher) is the “first responder” to many reactive service calls. This position is responsible for assessing the situation, troubleshooting to find the root cause, and taking corrective actions to maintain the continuous operations of the equipment or system impacted. In addition to having well-rounded general maintenance skills, a good working knowledge of general electrical system repairs is desired. Examples of work responsibilities may include unstopping toilets and floor drains; investigating roof, pipe, and other leaks; installing bladders; resetting tripped circuit breakers; troubleshooting and repairing water fountains, replacing ceiling tiles, light ballasts, etc.


Essential Job Functions


  1. Works closely with client representatives and other trade technicians to address reactive maintenance issues, as well as other requests that arise during the shift.
  2. Attends daily safety trainings and follows all safety directives.
  3. Manages work orders assigned through INFOR Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS) by recording technician’s labor hours, materials used, and a description of work completed in a timely manner.
  4. Manages time and prioritizes work orders to ensure that client needs, and expectations are met.
  5. Performs quality repairs that extend the life of the facility.
  6. Follows and supports project safety, quality, cost, scheduling, operational continuity, code of conduct and ethics policies and procedures.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  1. Good computer, communication, and typing skills.
  2. Ability to work from lifts and ladders, as well as work in a variety of weather conditions.
  3. Ability to work adjusted schedules during extreme weather events. Weekend work is required with these two positions.


Education


  1. HS Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.


Experience Required


  1. Minimum 2-3 years general maintenance experience in the areas of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, door operations, building systems, etc. in an industrial/commercial environment.
  2. Valid driver’s license with ability to be covered by Jacobs liability insurance carrier.


Working Conditions 


Working conditions in the work area can include indoor environments, as well as outdoor environments, which could cause exposure to changing weather conditions; proper environmental attire will be required.  Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, pathogens, and various chemicals.  The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.


Physical Requirements


Physical requirements to perform work will include ability to sit, stand, stoop, twist, and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination to work on equipment, have vision sufficient to maintain equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction.  In an 8-hour shift, must be able to walk long distances throughout the facility, lift objects up to 40 pounds from floor level to waist height, climb into and out of vehicles having high ground clearance; work in prone position under vehicles or equipment; wear and use appropriate safety equipment; work alternate shifts to meet client needs.
