ITS/MOT Inspector

Position Summary:

• The ITS/MOT Inspector will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and ensuring the proper operation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) throughout Hampton, VA.
• This role involves evaluating ITS/MOT equipment, systems, and infrastructure to ensure they meet operational and safety standards.
• The ITS Inspector will work closely with the ITS team, contractors, and local agencies to support the efficient and safe management of transportation systems.
• For ITS, we would be looking for Integrated Traffic Systems, fiber optic, or traffic signals, or certified electricians. Anyone with this background would be of interest to us.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspection and Evaluation:

• Conduct regular inspections of ITS equipment, including traffic cameras, sensors, variable message signs, and communication systems. Assess the condition and performance of ITS components and systems to ensure they are functioning correctly and efficiently.
• Identify and report any issues or malfunctions, and recommend corrective actions or repairs.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

• Perform routine maintenance tasks on ITS equipment and systems, including cleaning, calibrating, and updating software. Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with ITS infrastructure and coordinate with technicians for repairs or upgrades.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs. Prepare detailed reports on the status and performance of ITS systems, highlighting any areas of concern or improvement. Ensure documentation is up-to-date and complies with departmental standards.

Collaboration and Coordination:

• Work closely with the ITS Manager, engineering teams, and external contractors to ensure smooth operation and integration of ITS systems.
• Coordinate with local and state transportation agencies to address any system-related issues or updates.
• Participate in meetings and provide insights on ITS performance and improvements.

Compliance and Safety:

• Ensure all ITS systems comply with federal, state, and local regulations and standards. Follow safety procedures and guidelines to minimize risks during inspections and maintenance activities.
