Position Summary

The Intake Coordinator III (Certified) will play a vital role in supporting the Utilization Management (UM) Department by processing healthcare referrals, coordinating authorizations, and ensuring accurate service determinations. This position serves as a key liaison between patients, providers, and clinical staff to facilitate seamless healthcare access. The role requires strong attention to detail, medical coding knowledge, and excellent communication skills.

Performance Objectives

  • Process and facilitate authorization requests for healthcare services.

  • Act as a liaison between members, providers, and clinical staff.

  • Ensure accurate data entry and adherence to established criteria for service approvals.

  • Monitor provider service appeals and coordinate benefits interpretation.


Key Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in medical coding (ICD-10, CPT) and terminology.


Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Medical Assistant Associate’s degree/diploma, Medical Assistant Certificate, or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a managed care setting.

  • Two (2) years of experience in data entry and computer systems.


Certifications & Technical Skills:

  • Typing certificate (30 WPM).

  • Proficiency in ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT coding.

  • Knowledge of Medicaid benefits and Microsoft Office Suite.
