Buyer/Planner
Summary of Position:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Buyer/Planner to join our team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and fostering strong vendor relationships. This role demands a commitment to quality, on-time delivery, and effective cost management.
Key Responsibilities:

Utilize MRP (Material Requirements Planning) software to accurately determine material and service needs for production.

Prepare requests for emergency orders and formal purchase orders efficiently and precisely.

Analyze costs, negotiate prices, and secure favorable terms for goods and services to achieve cost reduction goals.

Monitor existing purchase orders to ensure timely deliveries and proactively address potential delays.

Maintain consistent and effective communication with vendors regarding delivery schedules, quality issues, and cost concerns.

Expedite supplier orders as required to prevent production disruptions and meet demanding timelines.

Perform assigned tasks aimed at achieving total cost reductions in material and contracted services, supporting the overall manufacturing process.

Execute purchasing processes to provide necessary goods and services on a timely, competitive, and cost-effective basis, including purchase order preparation and resolution of invoice discrepancies.

Ensure inventory levels of all purchased items are maintained in accordance with established purchasing practices and company targets.

Build and maintain a robust and reliable vendor base, continually evaluating performance and exploring new opportunities.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality, to support operational needs.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support the purchasing department and overall company objectives.
Qualifications:

Experience:
-
2-5 years of direct experience as a Buyer, with a preference for candidates demonstrating career stability.

Alternatively, 5+ years of strong, relevant experience in a purchasing role if a related degree is not held.

Minimum of three years of experience in the heavy manufacturing industry.

Proven experience using an ERP system; Epicor experience is a plus but not a requirement.

Demonstrated experience with negotiation, data analysis, and strategic thinking.
