The Warehouse Attendant is responsible for partnering with all areas of production to ensure product is finished, labeled, and stored in compliance with good manufacturing practices and safe quality food standards. Additionally, the Warehouse Attendant is instrumental in supporting logistics for outgoing product and incoming materials. The right candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, passion for quality, and ambition to work towards new initiatives while developing efficiencies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operates standup fork-lift truck and attached equipment, as directed and in compliance with GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and SQF (Safe Quality Food) policies and procedures. This includes that the driver is certified to lift, stack, tier, or move products and materials in the warehouse, loading dock, and production areas.

• Supports deliveries and drop offs for clients and vendors by verifying and inventorying materials, and ensuring visitors are in compliance with SQF and GMP transport standards.

• Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.

• Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transports load to designated area.

• Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device or by other means.

• Inventories materials on work floor; supplies production with materials, as requested.

• Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels or production schedules.

• Loads and unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids or lifting devices.

• Ensures all packed pallets are wrapped and labeled properly.

• Delivers incoming mail and supplies to company recipient in a timely manner.

• Consistently completes appropriate documentation for equipment, inventory, incoming and outgoing deliveries in compliance with GMP and SQF standards

• Maintains an organized and clean loading dock and warehouse in compliance with preventive maintenance and cleaning schedule. This includes supporting the routine maintenance and care of all warehouse equipment.

• Reports mechanical or electrical problems to appropriate person.

• Other duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), supplemented by additional course or relevant course work.

• Sufficient education and ability to read and understand uncomplicated instructions and destination-type labeling.

• Six months of training or experience in driving and operating a fork-lift or similar truck is preferred.

• Must pass in-house fork-lift driving certification test and satisfy semi-annual recertification.

• Must have a valid class D Driver’s License in satisfactory standing.

Knowledge and Skill

• Knowledge of operating and routine maintenance and repair procedures for fork-lift equipment

 

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to sit; talk or hear; and use hands to handle, or touch objects or controls

• On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders

• Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

 

Working conditions:

Incumbent must be able to work in an environment with changing temperatures from -10 degrees Fahrenheit to 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Incumbent may be exposed to cleaning chemicals, loud equipment and machines, and other environmental hazards associated with a production or warehouse facility.
