GLISS General Labor & Industrial Staffing Solutions is hiring for a locally owned and operated modular construction company 20 minutes outside of Salem, OR. This position is responsible for exterior siding work.

 

Job Description 

  • Install siding preparation materials, soffits, trim, backing as needed, housewrap, gypsum sheathing, windows, flashing, insulate walls, etc.

  • Siding applied in 4’x8’, 9’ and 10’ sheets, and lap.

  • Types of materials used: wood, wood composite, fiber-reinforced cement products, and vinyl.

  • Clean up working areas.

  • Read a tape measure.

  • Ability to learn the basics of reading construction drawings.

  • Ability to learn the proper use of power tools and equipment.

  • Basic math skills

 

Job Qualifications

  • A physically demanding position. Heavy continuous lifting or moving of equipment and building materials. Often working with arms and hands overhead.

  • Subject to irritation of eyes, skin, and respiratory tract from sawdust, dusty surfaces, and fumes.

  • Frequent ladder climbing throughout the day.

  • Working at heights over ten feet.

  • Stand, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time. 

  • Duties are normally accomplished in a climate-controlled area but are occasionally required to work outside in heat or cold.  

  • Subject to cuts, scrapes, splinters, and burns due to the tools and materials used. 

  • Occasionally required to wear protective equipment or clothing that may be heavy or uncomfortable.

  • Confined work spaces occasionally (small areas or shared with other crews).

  • Frequently exposed to noise.
