Pay Rate: $16.50 - $17.50/hr.

Schedules Available:

  • Sunday- Wednesday 4:00 AM | 12:00 PM |8:00 PM 
  • Thursday- Saturday 4:00 AM | 12:00 PM | 8:00 PM

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION :

The Compounder will be primarily responsible for the safe and timely production of  all compounded product assigned to them while maintaining product quality,  production efficiency and cost standards, to assure that our customers are getting a  product that meets all of the specifications and quality standards that have been  developed for the product and that we are following all of the procedural guidelines  set by the company or its customers, under the direction of the Production  Supervisor. 


PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS  

• Responsible for compounding batches to meet production needs in mixing  tanks following batch instructions. 

• Responsible for following all Standard Operating Procedures and Good  Manufacturing Practices applicable to the department. 

• Responsible for the overall housekeeping in the compounding area and  keeping process equipment clean, sanitized and organized. 

• Responsible for the accurate completion of all batch records and the collection  of all retains from compounded products. 

• Responsible for embracing a “team environment” where cooperation and  communication between other team members is vital in order to meet the  goals of the Compounding Department. 

• Review their own Job Description on a weekly basis to make sure that they are  meeting the responsibilities of their job. 

• Miscellaneous job related duties as assigned. 

  

DIMENSIONS, TASKS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  

• Reviews Batch Sheets assigned to them, has material pulled for Batch Sheets,  and reviews that sufficient quantities are available to complete the work order  4 to 24 hours before the Work Order is due to go on line.  

• Check the weights of chemicals and perfumes that have been prepared to go  into the batches to insure that the proper amounts of the correct chemicals  have been used and that the processing guidelines have been followed. Initial  all batch sheets in the appropriate areas. 

• Assist the Production Supervisor in insuring that we maintain safe inventories  of all raw materials, finished compounded products and perfumes.

• Operate process equipment such as kettle, pumps, large-scale mixing  equipment, in compliance with prescribed operating procedures.

• Load and unload raw materials and finished products into and out of process  equipment.

• Blend chemicals in a precise manner to create product following Batch  procedures. 

• Pre-weighing raw materials with lab and drum scales. 

• Understand all safety, quality and operational procedures, tools, equipment,  electronic/computer systems used in compounding and container filling.

• Understand all procedures used to verify and record information during  compounding and container filling. 

• Locate compounded product in the Inventory System. 

• Cut tops off of empty barrels when ready to discard. 

• Sanitizes utensils, tools, pumps, hoses, mixers, kettles, measuring containers,  tanks, holding containers and other pertinent equipment before use.

• Cleans utensils, tools, pumps, hoses, mixers, kettles, tanks, and holding  containers immediately after use. Must utilize available time in the “cooking”  process of the batch to clean – up as you go. 

• Turn in all work orders and necessary batch logs in a timely manner.

• Wear personal protective equipment when required. 

• Reports all accidents in the compounding department and any unsafe  conditions to the Production Supervisor. 

• Performs other duties as assigned.  

  

MEETING PARTICIPATION  

• Weekly Compounding Department Meeting  

• Any others as requested. 


AUTHORITY  

This position reports to the Compounding Supervisor and is a support position with  direct authority to stop production if it is found that Quality Standards or Operating  Procedures are not being followed. 

The position closely collaborates with Manufacturing, Material Handling, Production  Planning and the Lab. 


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY  

This position is not a managerial role and does not have any supervisory  responsibilities. 


CLASSIFICATION  

This is a full-time non-exempt role. .


EDUCATION  

• High School diploma  

• Or Equivalent Experience 

• Forklift certification a plus.  

  

WORK EXPERIENCE  

• Experience working in a GMP environment preferred 

• Excellent written and verbal communication 

• Strong problem solving abilities 

• 3+ years’ experience in the manufacturing industry preferred   

  

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS  

• Organized and detail-oriented, with a strong drive to succeed. 

• Good human relations and oral/written communication skills

• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs 

• Demonstrated ability to learn, follow and help refine procedures with minimal  oversight 

• Strong analytical / problem solving skills 

• Function as part of a multi-discipline project team 

• Self-starter with willingness to expand expertise and skill base

• Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently 

• Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.

• PC Computer skills – including Word, Excel and in-house programs.

• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

• Ability to create reports. 

• Ability to make evaluative judgments. 

• Knowledge of quality control practices. 

• Must have basic mechanical abilities. 

  

SPECIAL DEMANDS  

• Physical stamina to withstand eight or more hours on feet. Kneeling,  crouching, climbing and working at heights.  

• This position requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

• Working Conditions - Exposure to hazards of an industrial environment  including noise, dust wet wash down areas, hazardous materials, machinery  and lift equipment.
