Job Title: Batch Assistant

Pay Rate: $17/hr.

Shift: 1st (start time varies from 2-3am)

Benefits: Medical, Dental, AD&D


SUMMARY

The Batch Assistant, under the direction of the Batch Master and Production Supervisor, provides QC with samples of ingredients and products; helps the Batch Master pre-stage and clean up when changing to a new product; assists with the transfer of the product to the kettle; follows directions of the Batch Master. Responsible for complying with the company’s Code of Safe Practices, upholding GMPs and following HACCP. The Client's employees must strive to do their best, show they care about the quality of our products, and perform to all regulatory standards.  The Batch Assistant is expected to grow into the position of Batch Master. 


Duties:

  1. Follow all GMP’s and instructions of batch master.
  2. Take samples of products and ingredients to QC lab.
  3. Help wash down products before being brought into the kitchen.
  4. Help open containers for use before being brought into the kitchen.
  5. Assist the batch master with pumping production into the kettle.
  6. Assist the batch master with operating the kitchen control panel.
  7. Help to pre-stage ingredients for the next batch.
  8. Place and exchange gondolas on the production line as needed (metal detector, filler platform).
  9. Assist the batch master in all other kitchen duties.
  10. Assist supervisors in covering other areas.
  11. Rotate the batch master’s and other positions for lunch and breaks.
  12. Assist with the water push as needed by the Production Supervisor.
  13. Maintain all areas clean and organized.
  14. All other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ingredient Preparation:
  • Obtaining ingredients from designated storage areas.
  • Pre-weighing and measuring ingredients according to batch instructions.
  • Mixing and Batching:
  • Operating machinery to mix or blend ingredients to specified formulations.
  • Ensuring accurate ingredient ratios and mixing times.
  • Quality Control:
  • Performing routine tests to ensure the resulting mixture meets specified properties and consistencies.
  • Recording test data and communicating any irregularities to quality control.
  • Maintenance and Cleanliness:
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Cleaning equipment and machinery after use.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Basic Math Skills: Ability to accurately weigh and measure ingredients.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to follow instructions and recipes precisely.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Familiarity with machinery and equipment used in mixing and batching processes.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with other members of the production team.
  • Cleanliness and Organization: Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or move materials weighing up to 50 lbs.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves lifting materials and products up to 50 pounds. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to work boots, and hard hats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
