Industrial Mechanic Helper/Blaster

Overview:

(Bethlehem, PA): Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a motivated Mechanic’s Assistant / Blaster to join our industrial team in Bethlehem, PA. This hands-on position supports the disassembly, cleaning, blasting, painting, and basic mechanical operations of turbomachinery components. This is a great opportunity for someone with a mechanical aptitude who thrives in a shop environment and is eager to learn and grow within the industry.

Essential Duties:

• Support the disassembly of rotating equipment and machinery

• Perform hard blasting, bead blasting, steam cleaning, and solvent cleaning of metal components (training provided)

• Tap, clean threaded holes, and hone mating faces

• Prep and paint parts with approved industrial coatings

• Apply specialty coatings (training provided)

• Assist with general shop duties including cleanup and facility organization

• Prep shop machinery (lathes, mills, etc.) for painting

• Perform basic welding and fabrication of fixturing and skids (training provided)

• Support evening shift technicians with logistics, setups, and light mechanical tasks

• Operate forklift and other material handling equipment (training provided)

• Ensure adherence to all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace

• Other duties as assigned

Requirements/Skills:

• Required: High School Diploma or GED

• 2+ years of experience in an industrial or machine shop environment preferred

• Familiarity with mechanical tools and equipment

• Willingness to work physically demanding tasks (lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs)

• Ability to work around metals (aluminum, copper, bronze, steel)

• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new skills

• Basic math and computer skills

• Patience and attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand and walk for most of the shift

• Ability to work evenings, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed

• Comfortable working in a shop environment involving bending, kneeling, and handling tools

• Willingness to work with large torches and various shop equipment (training provided)
