CNC Lathe & VTL Machinist

Overview:
Tomball, TX: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is recruiting a CNC Lathe & VTL Machinist. This position is responsible for performing precision machining operations including drilling, threading (tap & thread mill), boring, and turning, while maintaining close tolerances on large components across multiple industries. The ideal candidate will be fluent with Fanuc Controls, able to read and interpret drawings and programs, and experienced in machining parts up to 80”+ diameters.

Essential Duties:

• Maintain a safe working environment and comply with all company safety policies and procedures.

• Perform finish machining practices on CNC Lathes and Vertical Turret Lathes, including turning, boring, drilling, and threading.

• Read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings, work instructions, and G-code programs.

• Operate CNC machinery with Fanuc Controls.

• Use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges) to verify tolerances and ensure compliance with specifications.

• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow proper housekeeping practices.

• Generate inspection reports and communicate any quality issues.

• Manage competing priorities and meet production deadlines.

• Assist with other machining projects or responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution (technical certifications a plus).

• 10+ years of machining experience required.

• Experience machining large parts, 80”+ diameters, preferred.

• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ownership of tasks.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

• Must provide and use basic hand tools and precision measuring devices.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test and background check.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for significant portions of the shift.

• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs., walk, climb, kneel, crawl, reach, and balance.

• Frequent use of hands for tool operation and assembly.

• Must not have allergies or sensitivities to metals such as aluminum, copper, bronze, and steel.

Work Environment:

• Exposure to moving mechanical parts in a machine-shop environment.

• Machining operations may generate moderate noise and metal particles.

Other Information:

• Full-time role based in RMS’s Tomball, TX (77377) facility.

• Some weekend work may be required based on company needs.

• Must be able to interact with internal teams and external vendors.
