Overview:
Bethlehem, PA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Mechanic to perform a variety of mechanical operations and tasks on turbomachinery components and assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and reliability in attendance and punctuality.
Essential Duties:
• Maintain a safe working environment and comply with all safety policies, procedures, and instructions.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Read and interpret blueprints accurately.
• Complete “as received” photo documentation and visual inspection of assemblies and spare parts.
• Disassemble complex rotating equipment and document failure modes and component conditions.
• Clean and prep parts for nondestructive testing (NDT) and positive material identification (PMI) examinations.
• Perform and document detailed dimensional and runout inspections of components.
• Generate inspection reports, including recommended repairs and replacement parts.
• Provide written instructions and drawings to other crafts involved in manufacture or repair.
• Perform quality checks on customer-furnished, manufactured, and repaired components.
• Assemble equipment to OEM, ASME, API, or customer specifications.
• Document final sizes, clearances, and data to complete repair reports.
• Set up and perform hydrotests or pneumatic pressure tests per customer requirements.
• Communicate effectively with supervision, crafts, and customers during repair processes.
• Collaborate with and mentor others, while solving problems in a professional manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements/Skills:
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 5–10 years prior industry experience.
• Knowledge and use of precision measuring devices (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.).
• Must provide basic mechanic tools and measuring devices.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
• Basic computer and math skills.
• Basic oral and written communication skills.
• Safety-conscious and detail-oriented.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to operate small lifts, pallet jacks, and other lifting equipment (training provided).
• Ability to work around propane/acetylene torches.
• Patience, professionalism, and willingness to learn.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand and walk for significant portions of the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and perform tasks requiring walking, climbing, kneeling, crawling, reaching, and balancing.
• Must be able to use hands for assembly and tool usage.
• Must not have allergies or issues with handling metals (aluminum, copper, bronze, steel).
Work Environment:
• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Shop environment is generally clean and safe, but machining operations may generate moderate noise and metal particles.
Special Information:
• Full-time position based in Bethlehem, PA shop.
• Evening and weekend work may be required depending on company needs.
• Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English proficiently.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol test, physical, and background check.
