Overview:
Canastota, NY: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking CNC Machinists (all shifts) to join our client’s team. This position involves performing machining practices including turning, milling, drilling, and threading operations on turbomachinery components and assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements.
Essential Duties:
• Operate and monitor CNC machines to ensure proper functionality.
• Perform routine in-process inspections and document results per established quality control procedures.
• Perform daily housekeeping and machine maintenance tasks to ensure safe and effective machine operation.
• Adjust machines as needed for changeovers, different functions, or other production requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by CNC Shift Lead and/or Supervisor.
Requirements/Skills:
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 3 years of CNC operator experience.
• Experience with manual machines and band saws.
• Ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematics and precision instruments (micrometers, calipers).
• Basic mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
• Strong hand-eye coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Positive attitude with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge and practice of safe machining procedures.
• Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English proficiently.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, physical, and background check.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand and walk for significant portions of the shift.
• Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to walk, climb, reach, kneel, crawl, and balance.
• Frequent use of hands for assembly and tool operation.
• Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks.
• Must not have allergies or issues related to handling metals (aluminum, copper, bronze, steel).
Work Environment:
• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Machining operations generate moderate noise and metal particles.
• Work area is generally clean and safe, but PPE and safety awareness are required.
• Evening and weekend work may be required based on production needs.
