Rotating Machinery Mechanic
Overview:
Pearland, TX: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Mechanic – Engineered Products (1st Shift) who will perform a variety of mechanical operations and tasks on turbomachinery components and assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements. This position requires experience working on pumps, gearboxes, compressors, and blowers.
Essential Duties:
• Perform unit disassembly, cleaning, and inspection, including accurate collection and recording of technical inspection data for equipment repair proposals.
• Maintain, diagnose, and repair all types of rotating equipment.
• Complete required maintenance to return equipment back to customer operating condition per OEM specifications.
• Prepare and complete service documentation and maintain clear, concise daily work records.
• Utilize problem-solving skills to analyze causes of issues and implement accurate solutions.
• Maintain shop equipment and ensure daily housekeeping for a safe, organized environment.
• Disassemble complex rotating equipment and provide written observations of failure modes and component conditions.
• Assist in cleaning and prepping parts for NDT and PMI examination.
• Perform and document detailed dimensional and runout inspections of all components.
• Provide written inspection reports, including recommended repairs and replacement parts needed.
• Provide written instructions and drawings for manufacturing or repair processes.
• Perform quality checks on customer-furnished, manufactured, and repaired components prior to final assembly.
• Assemble equipment per OEM, ASME, API, or customer-supplied specifications.
• Document all final sizes, clearances, and repairs for customer reports.
• Conduct “as received” photo documentation and visual inspection of assemblies and customer-furnished spare parts.
• Support additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements/Skills:
• High School Diploma/GED from an accredited school required.
• Mechanic certificate or NCCER Millwright certification helpful.
• 10+ years of experience working on pumps, gearboxes, blowers, compressors, and turbines.
• Must supply basic mechanic’s tools and measuring devices.
• Strong knowledge of rotating equipment and measuring devices.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervision, crafts, and customers.
• Good organizational skills and ability to train junior mechanics.
• Must have strong attendance, punctuality, and teamwork skills.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to legally work in the U.S. with proper documentation.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and background check.
• Willingness to work 40+ hours per week, including evenings or weekends if required.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
• Ability to walk, climb, reach above head, and balance while performing tasks.
• Frequent use of hands for assembly and tool usage.
• Must not have allergies or restrictions preventing safe handling of metals (aluminum, copper, bronze, steel).
• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, moderate noise, and machining operations that generate metal particles.
