Electrical Design Engineer
Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for a direct-hire opportunity with a confidential client. We have positions open in Oklahoma City, OK and Plano, TX.
Essential Duties:
• Develop and maintain electrical product detail, assembly, and installation designs (e.g., cable routing and geometry, WHIDs, IRMs).
• Provide engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests, shop revision requests).
• Document processes, specifications, and procedures supporting the design and manufacture of electrical commodities.
• Analyze functional and physical input to ensure complete integrated designs.
• Create/revise wire installation drawings using CATIA/ENOVIA.
• Generate schematics, wire diagrams, harness 3D CAD routing, 2D assembly drawings, technical documentation, and reports to support flight, qualification, and test lab harness assemblies.
• Support design reviews by presenting design, analysis, and test results, ensuring compliance with requirements for flight.
• Partner with engineering and production teams to generate creative designs, continuous improvements, and technical solutions.
Requirements/Skills:
• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering or other STEM-related field.
• 3+ years of experience in a related engineering discipline.
• Knowledge of aircraft or electronic systems.
• Familiar with use of test equipment to verify harness design and assembly.
• Experience with harness design, fabrication, and installation standards (IPC/WHMA-A-620, NASA-STD-8739.4, MSFC-SPEC-494).
• Proficiency with connectors, backshells, wires, and harness components selection.
• Understanding of electrical grounding requirements and system-level grounding implementation.
• Ability to develop statements of work, technical documentation, and reports.
• Strong communication skills (oral, written, and technical writing).
• U.S. Citizen (ITAR requirement).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience developing and integrating Electrical Wiring Interconnect System (EWIS) designs on launch vehicles and spacecraft.
• Ability to tailor aerospace harnessing standards and guidelines to create internal design standards.
• Knowledge of industry guidelines for wire harness development and design.
• Experience coordinating requirements across engineering, production, and integration teams.
• Ability to make design decisions considering technical merit, risk, cost, schedule, and quality assurance.
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 lbs.
• Must be able to visually interpret detailed schematics, CAD drawings, and technical documents.
