We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer with a strong background in Linux-based systems programming and deployment. This position involves working on embedded computing systems deployed on marine vessels, where reliability, efficiency, and security are critical. The ideal candidate will be a someone who thrives working close to the system, enjoys optimizing performance, and has a deep understanding of distributed communication and containerized environments.
Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and deploy software systems on embedded Linux devices used in vessel operations. Manage and optimize Linux environments for high availability, security, and performance. Implement and maintain messaging and data communication systems using NATS, MQTT, or similar technologies. Build and manage containerized applications using Docker, with exposure to Kubernetes considered a plus. Perform system-level debugging, network analysis, and troubleshooting to ensure stable deployments. Apply cybersecurity best practices across system configuration, communication protocols, and data handling. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate, test, and maintain distributed systems in production environments.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience). Extensive experience working in and managing Linux environments. Strong hands-on experience with Docker and container orchestration. Proven understanding of messaging systems such as NATS, MQTT, or similar protocols. Solid background in networking fundamentals, system-level debugging, and performance tuning. Demonstrated application of cybersecurity best practices in production environments. Experience with GoLang and Kubernetes is a strong plus. Prior work with embedded or edge computing devices is highly desirable.
