Technician

(Houston, TX: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Heat Treat Operator.

Essential Duties:
• Set up and operate machines, such as furnaces and baths.
• Follow production schedules, instructions, and job sheets to determine processing sequences, furnace temperatures, and heat cycle requirements.
• Determine types and temperatures of baths and quenching media needed to attain specific part hardness, toughness, and ductility, using heat-treating charts and knowledge of methods, equipment, and metals.
• Record times that parts are removed from furnace to document that objects have attained specified temperatures for required durations.
• Remove parts from furnace after specified times, and air dry or cool parts in water baths.
• Monitor flame temperatures, adjust controls, and maintain heating times using thermal instruments, charts, dials, gauges, and color of stock in furnace.
• Operate forklift to deposit and extract parts into and from furnaces and quenching rinse tanks.
• Repair, replace, and maintain furnace equipment as needed.
• Read, comprehend, and adhere to the company’s Process Management System requirements, providing improvement recommendations as necessary.
• Follow and apply the company’s Guiding Principle in daily work.
• Immediately report quality, safety, and/or environmental problems and follow up on their resolution.
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager, supervisor, and/or lead person.

Requirements/Skills:
• Experience operating furnaces, baths, and other heat-treating equipment.
• Knowledge of heat-treating methods, metals, and related processes.
• Ability to read and follow production schedules, job sheets, and process instructions.
• Strong attention to detail with ability to maintain accurate records.
• Forklift operating experience preferred.
• Strong commitment to safety and adherence to company guidelines.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Must be able to work in various positions, including standing, bending, kneeling, etc.
• Ability to work in environments with high heat exposure.
