Overview: Baton Rouge, LA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Chief Engineer to provide technical leadership and executive oversight of multi-disciplinary civil engineering services. This full-time, exempt position reports directly to the C-Suite and is critical in maintaining technical excellence, mentoring teams, and driving innovation across the firm’s service lines.

Essential Duties: • Provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for all engineering disciplines, including land development, surveying, landscape architecture, water resources, traffic engineering, and program management.
• Serve as the final technical authority on high-level, complex civil engineering projects.
• Review and approve technical designs, reports, and specifications to ensure accuracy, compliance, and constructability.
• Standardize and enforce firm-wide QA/QC procedures.
• Mentor department heads, project managers, and junior staff to foster growth and elevate technical capabilities.
• Lead professional development and licensure initiatives across departments.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to shape the firm’s strategic direction and technical offerings.
• Contribute technical input to business development proposals, client meetings, and presentations.
• Engage with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to troubleshoot challenges and offer expert solutions.
• Monitor changes in industry regulations, trends, and technologies relevant to the firm’s services.


Requirements/Skills:
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Louisiana or the ability to obtain licensure within 6 months.
• Minimum of 10 years post-licensure experience in civil engineering with increasing responsibility.
• Proven leadership experience in a multi-disciplinary engineering setting or large-scale civil projects.
• Expertise in at least three technical areas such as land development, hydrology, traffic engineering, or infrastructure.
• Strong mentoring skills with a track record of developing engineers at all career levels.
• Comprehensive knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Preferred: Experience with public-sector program management, proficiency in Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, HY-8, Synchro, or similar tools.
• Preferred: Active involvement in industry organizations such as ASCE, ITE, or SAME.


Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods in an office environment.
• Occasional travel to project sites, client meetings, and industry events.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally in support of field or office tasks.
