Theodore, AL: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Staff Accountant – Inventory and Costing for a full-time, direct-hire opportunity with a manufacturing client. This position reports to the Controller and plays a key role in maintaining accurate inventory records, analyzing cost data, and supporting overall financial reporting.
Essential Duties
• Maintain and reconcile inventory accounts in the general ledger
• Monitor and analyze inventory transactions and investigate variances
• Conduct regular physical inventory counts and audits
• Analyze and maintain accurate product costing, including standard cost updates
• Prepare and analyze Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and other cost reports
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts related to inventory and costing
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for inventory and cost accounting
• Support month-end and year-end close activities
• Collaborate with cross-functional departments (production, procurement, and warehouse)
• Provide financial insights to improve cost efficiency and inventory controls
• Identify and implement process improvements for accuracy and efficiency
• Assist with internal and external audits as needed
• Stay current with accounting principles and best practices in cost accounting
Requirements/Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA or CMA certification preferred
• 2–4 years of accounting experience with emphasis on inventory and cost accounting
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Physical Requirements
• Ability to conduct physical inventory counts
• Must be able to walk, stand, and lift up to 25 pounds as needed
• Occasional visits to production and warehouse areas
